As promised, here are some more shots of one of the wonders of the natural world.

Grand Canyon Revisited (part 1)

Yesterday, we took our niece to the Grand Canyon. This time we took the more traditional route of driving up to the South Rim, where the view was positively breathtaking.

She’s been having a lot of fun with the pooches, who are delighted to be with a human who has as much energy as they do.

It was hotter than we expected at first, and our first stroll along the rim resulted in everyone getting rather overheated. Those clouds in the background here eventually moved over us, though, which made for a nicer walk later (and some excellent lighting, as well).

Getting back into the helicopters, we set off again on a different route back to the city.

Heading Toward the Canyon

On Saturday afternoon, it was our turn to take the helicopter ride to the Grand canyon. Heading out, we flew relatively low over the city towards Lake Las Vegas, a large man-made lake near to but completely separate from Lake Mead, where the very wealthy can own lake front property in a very exclusive neighborhood.

Past Lake Las Vegas, we got our first good look at Lake Mead. Being a beautiful Saturday, there were lots of boats on the water.
