A Work in Progress

“Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.” – An old Irish proverb (I think!)

Damned if I Do, Damned if I Don’t

Water my sole remaining tomato, that is (and no, I don’t water at night, only in the morning). Below is a picture from yesterday afternoon. I haven’t actually watered this pot in a few days, because the dark patch of fungus-infected dirt has been lurking. I want the tomato to grow (the sole hardy survivor of my latest attempt at growing tomatoes), but I really don’t want a pot full of uninvited and unfamiliar mushrooms. These popped up over the course of about two days.

Yesterday I made a mental note to spray the upstart patch again with fungicide (it worked last time, for a couple of weeks anyway). Today when I went to spray it, the patch had grown to almost mutant proportions, appearing ready to devour any hapless plant matter that gets in its way.

Yeesh. I don’t know if my little tomato plant will make it.
