Kissed by the sun, the
little feller puffs way up
larger than life
That’s a pretty one – throat looks like a hummingbird, but the rest looks too big. Is that what it is?
Yep, it’s a hummer. They like to puff themselves up occasionally when they’re sitting around. My first couple of shots had it looking much more sleek, but this was funnier. It was sitting in the shade, all relaxed, until the sun angled through the leaves. That’s when the puffing started, then it shifted twigs to get back in the shade. I can’t blame it – even in September direct sunlight can be quite uncomfortable out here.
All our hummers are very sleek: a balmy 63 degrees today!
What a cutie! In Mexico, the little darlings would eat the mosquitoes, too. They were very welcome around our house.
I am sooooo impressed with your hummer picture! They are so hard to capture-you did it! He is really pretty too.
