    He is really a beautiful kid, my husband’s nephew. All the girls in his class are sighing and giggling over him, but he’s still more interested in video games and sword fighting.

    The dark line he’s standing on is the edge of a hill; the pale area above it is a big dried mudflat, probably 15 or 20 feet lower than where we were standing. It’s really hard to tell, though, thanks to the way the shadows came out.
