Environmentally friendly, phosphate free detergent. You didn’t buy that green crap, you say? You bought the stuff that works, you say? The joke’s on you – it’s all green now. You can thank Spokane.
…[T]he entire nation’s dish detergent supply was changed because two politicians in Spokane, Washington, wanted phosphates banned. And now the rest of America is living with the consequences.
Lest you be tempted to think it’s making any sort of difference in algae levels, it’s not.
[M]ost of the folks pushing the detergent ban made clear that getting rid of phosphates in detergent wasn’t going to fix the problem. “Anything we can do is good,” said Jani Gilbert, a spokeswoman for the Department of Ecology, “but I also want people to understand it’s not going to solve the river’s problem.” Rick Eichstaedt, a lawyer representing the Sierra Club in talks with the state and the EPA, admitted that “from a Spokane River cleanup perspective, it’s not going to solve the problem, and in fact, it’s not the major source of the problem.”
It does, however, effectively increase the amount of water used per load of dishes as people employ different methods to get that crap off, including prewashing and running the machine through an extra cycle.

This is progress, right? I mean, it’s instituted by progressives…
Do these people ever read their own words or listen to what they’ve said? We know this is not going to solve the problem. In fact, it’s going to create other problems, but we’re going to force everybody to do it anyway because anything we do is good. Except, not really.
Their goal is to turn us into a 3rd world country because they feel guilty for having nice things. Why they don’t go live in those countries is beyond me. Man I hate them.

I was just lamenting crappy dish soap. I just want clean dishes-not interested in being green.

Speaking for Spokane, I apologize for our politicians. I did want to whip right out and strangle them when they first thought of it. I’ll recycle them right down to a red ant colony.

Thanks, John. As it happens, my mom lives in Spokane; I remember all the complaints about the dish detergent, and how everyone was driving to Idaho for stuff that works. What I really want to know is, what the @^&* do leftists have against cleanliness? Did they think it was so great rolling in the mud at Woodstock that the rest of the country should want to join them?
