Friday Portrait, July 8

Today’s sitter was Matthew, who was getting tired so only sat for 8 minutes at a time. I got there earlier than usual, and without the munchkin, so had more time to work than usual. Not sure it helped much, but I did manage to do two drawings today:


For this one, I tried using pre-loaded “flesh tones,” and was reminded why I don’t like them much. They may look more “fleshy,” but they also most always come out flat and dull. The colors in the first may be a little too strong (and once again, much less subtle than they looked on the iPad screen), but there’s a livelihood to them I much prefer. All that, in the first, is just red, yellow and blue. The color trinity, from which all else flows…
